This is very powerful, Janet, especially as you do not name "it." And I like "this fit of rain," with its echo of "fit of weeping." The outline will linger in my mind, too.
I appreciate the comments, Jenny! I seem to remember this one flowing out of me pretty much as is.
The literal rain truly didn't wash away the outline on the concrete for quite a while - the outline that was visible after the body was removed. (And it wasn't me who removed it; I can't seem to do that sort of thing.)
