North wind

north wind
lashing my face—
I decide
it's time to start
walking backwards

GUSTS, Spring/Summer 2013

Warm this morning, then another cold front roared through, at the exact time that my husband was pumping gas at the station.

P.S. Walking backwards is good exercise. If you haven't already done so, try it.

  1. This is a timely and well penned reminder. Sometimes the simplest solutions help - at least a bit. Smiles.

  2. Brrr...good decision! I've heard walking backward is good exercise as well...works muscles that walking forward doesn't. Enjoyed this...stay warm!

  4. Really liked this. It has been so cold here, I'd give anything for a walk and not freeze, even walking backwards. It's almost Spring, can't wait. Take care, Lisa.

  5. Thanks, Lisa, for commenting!
Here in SE Texas, where it's supposed to be rather warm (and it was warm just a few days ago), we have a forest of ice, a tiny bit of snow again too. For us, it's a beautiful treat, though it makes for hazardous driving on country roads.
I can understand folks up north looking forward to spring. I'm not, because then the allergies flare up even worse.

  6. Very apt for the weather we've been having! And an interesting read if you take it metaphorically . . .
