tanka, other poetry, & insignificant writings of janet lynn davis
I love this one! It reminds me of WC Williams' red wheelbarrow--so much does depend on the little things that usually go unnoticed.
Thanks, Jenny! I always enjoy your comments!"Reality" depends on everyone's (including this cardinal's) unique perception. My happiness for a given moment also depends upon the cardinal's beautiful song. You know what? Eek, I now wonder why I wrote "depended" instead of "depends" (e.g., "depends upon it").
Oh this is so perfect. Indeed, so much of life is all about perspective. Very Zen.
Thanks, Wendy!Wish my life could be more Zen-like. ;) (So, my tense thing doesn't bother you?)
I don't have an issue with it and I think that's because of the . . . which, to me, implies a pause, or perhaps a brief passage of time has elapsed (hence a different tense). Though, I tend too see these things in the light of the most ambiguous (and forgiving) of literary devices: the poetic license - which makes everything perfect. Smiles
thanks again, wendy. this one pretty much flew out of me (on cardinal wings?!) as is. your explanation: that's sort of how I've been justifying it too. :-o
I wish we had cardinals around here. This is lovely and I like "depended" as is. I love Wendy's answer on that--me too.
I enjoy cardinals too. The birds I see most often here are huge crows, but I'm happy I can see and hear cardinals at least from time to time. Thanks!
