Announcement: Skylark and "Sculpting a Face"

The Winter 2016 issue of Skylark, an English-language tanka journal edited by poet Claire Everett, is available for purchase. I'm happy to say that reviews and features editor Jenny Ward Angyal interviewed me for that issue. Several of my tanka, many of them previously posted here at twigs&stones, including "silhouettes," are featured. Check it out.

  1. I love that tanka and remember it well - it's indelible.

I ordered the previous issue of Skylark and will be ordering this one, as well. It's an excellent publication: wonderful tanka thoughtfully selected and quality production values. It is a pleasure to read. Congratulations on your interview, Janet.

    1. Skylark IS a lovely journal, isn't it?
Glad to see your interest in tanka, Wendy. Should you wish to delve even deeper into the world of tanka, let me know and I'll give you the name of a great forum.

    2. I would like that, Janet. Although I'm so swamped these days, I just returned the materials for a couple of Xmas gift projects to the store, when I came to the conclusion I couldn't possibly get at them, in time. Perhaps in the New Year I can try and carve out a bit more "me" time. Thanks for thinking of me, though.

    3. This month is super-busy for me, too, so I understand. But if you ever want to take a look and hopefully join, just let me know!

  2. First, congratulations. I don't know skylark, but I love tanka--I speak some Japanese and love the spareness of all the smaller forms--
