Tanka Sequence (Set)

Clothes

sunflowers
splashed all over
my dress—
bare-armed, I scattered
the seeds of childhood

for so long
she draped it around herself
the same thick cloak
that near the end
slipped off her shoulders

  1. These two make a wonderful pair, spanning childhood to old age. Very evocative & poignant.

  2. Brilliant. The two parts of this sequence complement one another splendidly.

  3. So many layers here. The kind of tanka that makes you want to rest a bit and just roll those lovely lines around. A beautiful pairing.
